Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Buffalo Cloud Consulting LLC is a diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging education and management firm with deep community engagement experience. We serve the K-16 community, non-profits, corporate firms and government agencies. BCC develops and delivers customized DEI education, strategic planning, and business development services. We guide clients toward a desired state by examining policies, procedures, and practices through an equity lens. Adult learning theories inform the change management strategies that are used to move organizations forward.

• The Portland Police Oversight Commission engaged BCC to facilitate the commission meetings and provide equity education throughout the 18-month process. The purpose of the equity education process helps to disrupt the status quo in terms of how government appointed committees work

• The City of Gresham hired BCC, who collaborated with Berry Dunn Consulting, to conduct community engagement for the city's strategic plan. BCC worked specifically with BIPOC community-based organizations to ensure their input was reflected in the strategic planning process. BCC also provided facilitated equity education for the City Council multiple times.

• Gresham Barlow School District hired BCC to engage their community in multiple listening sessions to inform the Superintendent's decisions about the use of school resource officers. BCC delivered a 40-page report with recommendations, national and local context, and verbatim quotes.

• DEI Consultant to Caritas of Austin: BCC led a 3-year equity and cultural awareness program by producing and delivering ongoing trainings and facilitated informed conversations to create inclusive client service delivery models

• Respond to Racism in LO Steering Committee member: Christine Moses delivers monthly DEI trainings to Lake Oswego participants

• DEI Crisis Communications Lead: Christine Moses managed media response to racial incidents at Lake Oswego School District. Christine wrote the School Board’s response and planned and delivered press conferences. She fielded calls and all media inquiries

• Stakeholder Facilitation Consultant to Austin Independent School District (AISD) Construction Management department: BCC provided specialized communications and engagement strategies for AISD’s historically underutilized business vendor outreach initiative. BCC provided various services including recruitment, facilitation, follow-up engagement, and strategic communications for underrepresented audiences

• Communications Consultant to AISD: We guided communications and engagement initiatives for the upcoming bond program and potential boundary revisions. BCC was the liaison to Facilities and Bond Planning Advisory Committee members. Buffalo Cloud Consulting developed and successfully delivered community engagement initiatives

Community Engagement

• Created program for the Connecticut Department of Education to inform and receive feedback from school officials and parents before adopting the Next Generation Science Standards. Synthesized political research, communications tools, and policy advice to achieve overwhelming community support of state adoption of new standards

• Consultant to Greenlights’ Social Venture Accelerator program to mentor nonprofits in 6-month engagement developing business model canvasses, lead start-up strategies, and other growth/funding alternatives, and capital formation and investor recruiting. Facilitate venture capital investment in high-impact nonprofits

• Co-convened Connecticut Governor’s Task Force on STEM education. Committee findings influenced curriculum development for high school students

 

Communications

• Created and executed tri-annual communications plan for $20M educational nonprofit leading to 65% increase in funding and 10 times increase in opt-in leads. Winner of International MARCOM Platinum Award for Communications Plans and Annual Reports

• Garnered 84 million earned media impressions by originating and orchestrating first-ever 7-city satellite patient conference on advances in the treatment of Parkinson’s disease

• Trained nonprofit CEO in crisis communications surrounding the use of restraints for children in group homes; successfully navigated high-risk press conference and television interviews

 

Policy/Issues Management

• Successfully lobbied Texas legislators for the passage of the Texas Bison Astray Law (2013)

• Successfully lobbied congressional staffers and legislative aides for regional laboratory and comprehensive center inclusion in 2012 federal budget; programs were included

• Raised $10,000 in employee contributions the first year for a new regional Political Action Committee for Nationwide Insurance
